Underground pipes and cables form the arteries essential for sustaining the health and vibrancy of our communities. However, the old adage of ‘out of sight, out of mind’ still holds sway and much of this essential infrastructure is in need of replacement or rehabilitation. The worldwide financial ‘tsunami’ may present a great opportunity to rectify this as governments around the world consider stimulus packages that include investment in infrastructure.
