It looks like all systems are go for No-Dig Live 2010, the UK’s principal trenchless event to be held at Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry, on October 5-7. The tenth occurrence of this important UK trenchless event sees an impressive number of exhibitors and registered visitors, an indication perhaps that the UK trenchless sector is at last emerging from the doldrums.

The September issue of Trenchless World carried a preview of selected companies (‘Going Live at Stoneleigh’), which subscribers can read at www.trenchless-world.com

Here are two additional entries that did not make it into the preview:

Steve Vick

Steve Vick International will be showcasing Pipe Handler, a device designed to offer a safer alternative to winching or using an excavator bucket and sling to insert pipe. Pipe Handler

Attached to an excavator, Pipe Handler offers what is claimed to be an efficient and safe way to pick up and manoeuvre PE pipe. It can also insert long lengths of PE pipe into a host pipe, making it a useful tool in pipe replacement operations with typical insertion speeds of 10m/minute. Using the device also avoids the need for operatives to work in the trench.

Pipe Handler is attached to the quick hitch or bucket pins of the excavator and can be shelled down to suit a range of PE pipe sizes.

C-ScopeSteve Vick

C.Scope has chosen No-Dig Live to launch its second generation cable avoidance tools and signal generators. Paul Wells, C.Scope sales director said: "We felt that No-Dig Live was the perfect venue to launch our newest locators since they are designed primarily with the utilities and utility contractors in mind. No-Dig Live is really a 'must see' event for anyone involved with pipe and cable installation or maintenance work."

The new cable avoidance tools will be shown alongside the high performance MXL Locator and MXT Transmitter, as well as an entire range of pipe and cable location equipment to suit all requirements. National Grid, the largest utility in the UK and a leading international energy infrastructure business, recently chose MXL and MXT for all its cable and plant avoidance requirements in the gas and electricity sectors.
