Ontario-based Pure Technologies has announced that it has acquired The Pressure Pipe Inspection Company (PPIC) for nearly US$33 million in cash and its common stock. Scott MacDonald, Partner with Emerald Technology Ventures (PPIC's largest shareholder), will join Pure's Board of Directors.
Dr. Brian Mergelas, formerly CEO of PPIC, is now Pure's senior vice-president, corporate strategy and development. A recognized authority in pipeline condition assessment, Dr. Mergelas will be a key contributor for shaping Pure's strategic direction and in identifying future opportunities to grow Pure's business.
Peter Paulson, Pure CEO, said: "This is a significant milestone for Pure and for the international water technology sector. The combined Pure/PPIC entity will be a world leader in the field of condition assessment and asset management for water and wastewater pipelines.”
