Quebec contractor Nella Drilling recently completed a rail crossing at a 16° or 28% grade, which is, by far, the steepest angle at which the machinery has been used. “There were many challenges; for example, we had to hold back the casing and augers so they wouldn’t slide down the hill, but we were successful and finished the project on time,” says Gill Tardif, general manager for Nella Drilling.
